Arrive at Guwahati Airport, where your private vehicle and local driver will meet you. Begin the scenic drive towards Shillong through the green hill roads of Meghalaya. The transfer from Guwahati Airport to Shillong is a long intercity journey, so a comfortable vehicle, bottled water, light refreshments, and a relaxed schedule are recommended.
En route, stop at Lum’er Pyngngad, popularly known as Mini Pahalgam of Meghalaya, near Umbir Village in the Ri-Bhoi district. The area is known for pine-fringed meadows, open green landscapes, peaceful surroundings, and viewpoints towards the Umiam region. Enjoy a gentle walk, photography, and tea or light refreshments. Avoid strenuous activities because this is the arrival day. Lum’er Pyngngad is reported to be approximately 86–87 km from Guwahati by road, although the exact distance varies according to the access route.[1]
Continue to Umiam Lake, which lies on the Guwahati–Shillong route via National Highway 6 and is approximately 15 km from Shillong. The lake is a convenient en-route stop with lakefront and nearby resort parking. Enjoy a relaxed lakeside visit and lunch at a suitable resort or restaurant. Boating may be considered only if weather and local operating conditions are favourable.[2]
After lunch, continue to Shillong and check into your selected luxury or heritage-style hotel. Spend the evening at leisure with a welcome drink, a quiet dinner, and complete rest after the long journey.
Overnight stay: Shillong.
